PHL Honorary Consul to the Republic of Malta Assumes Office

After the oath, Ambassador Nolasco informed the new Honorary Consul of his duties and responsibilities as the representative of the Philippine Government in Malta. The Ambassador specifically highlighted the need to further strengthen Philippines-Malta relations and the assurance of timely and efficient service to the Filipino community based in Malta.
Ambassador Nolasco also introduced Consul Roger Strickland, Jr. a.h. to Filipino community leaders and volunteers during the Embassy outreach mission conducted in Malta from April 16 to 17.

PHL Embassy in Rome Meets with the Filipino Community, Conducts an Outreach Mission in Palermo

13 April 2016 - On April 10, Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco met with the leaders of the Filipino community based in the island of Sicily in the south of Italy. Leaders from Reggio Calabria and Catanzaro were also present at the meeting.
The Ambassador highlighted the importance of voting in the ongoing national elections and explained the procedures for the mixed automated election voting (personal or postal) being conducted by the Philippine Embassy in Rome. Ambassador Nolasco also listened to the concerns of the community and assured them of conduct of periodic outreaches and programs to bring Embassy services closer to their respective areas.
On the same weekend (April 09 to 10), the Embassy, with the cooperation of the Philippine Consulate in Palermo and Philippine Don Bosco Association – Palermo, also conducted an outreach mission.
The outreach team, which is composed of the Embassy’s Consular Section, Philippine Overseas Labor Officer (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG, led by Consul General Leila Lora-Santos processed, among others, 494 applications for ePassports, 25 Reports of Births, five Reports of Marriage, and four dual citizenship applications. Consul General Lora-Santos also administered the Oath of Allegiance of 31 former Filipinos who reacquired their Philippine citizenship.
POLO-OWWA serviced a total of 291 Filipinos, with 245 OWWA membership processed and 39 assisted for Balik-Manggagawa online (BM On-line). SSS and Pag-IBIG representatives serviced 105 and 81 clients respectively.
The next outreach mission is scheduled from April 16 to 17 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Millennium Chapel, Church St., St. Julian’s in the Republic of Malta. END
PHL Embassy in Rome Conducts Final Testing and Sealing of Vote Counting Machines

11 April 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome successfully conducted the Final Testing and Sealing (FTS) of the Vote Counting Machines (VCM) on April 07.
Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco explained to the members of the Filipino community the process of casting and feeding their ballots to the VCMs.
The Filipino community in Rome actively participated in testing the working conditions of the VCMs which will be used in the upcoming national elections. Filipinos who attended the FTS were given the opportunity to accomplish FTS sample ballots and feed them to the VCMs.
The FTS aims to check the accuracy, completeness and security of the VCMs before they are utilized come election day. After the FTS, the VCMs will be opened on April 09, the first day of overseas voting.
The Philippine Embassy in Rome is one of the 30 Foreign Service Posts which will implement Automated Election System (AES). The overseas voting will run from April 09 to May 09.END
PHL Embassy in Rome Opens Polls for 2016 National Elections

11 April 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco led the casting of ballots on the first day of overseas voting in Rome on April 09.
As early as eight in the morning, members of the Filipino community in Rome arrived at the Embassy to cast their ballots. Watchers and members of the media were also present to witness the opening of election day at the Embassy.
Ambassador Nolasco expressed satisfaction on the enthusiasm and the active participation of members of the Filipino community in the 2016 national elections.
He reiterated his call on all registered voters in Rome to exercise their right to vote. He explained that registered voters even without their voter’s ID may cast their vote. To vote registered voters are only requested to present any identification card such as passport, driver’s license and carta identità, among others.
The Ambassador underscored that overseas Filipinos can have a bigger role in the future of the country by casting their votes to elect the Philippines’ leaders.
The Philippine Embassy in Rome will be open for overseas voting every day from April 10 to May 08 including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. On the last day of voting, May 09, the Embassy will be open for voting from 7:00 AM to 11: AM. END
