Effective 01 July 2023, all assistance cases involving Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) shall now be handled by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) through its Migrant Workers Offices (MWO) abroad through the use of its AKSYON Fund in accordance with Republic Act No. 11641. In Southern and Central Italy, the function of extending protection to OFWs (whether documented or undocumented) will be handled by MWO-Rome. Filipinos who reside outside Italy and lost their passport while in Rome have no alternative but to use a Travel document (TD) for direct, one-way travel to the Philippines.
