NATIONAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (NBI) CLEARANCE

The Consular Section of the Philippine Embassy in Rome facilitates the application for a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance, intended for use in Italy or other purposes, by a person who is in Italy and unable to personally file the application in the Philippines.

The applicant who is in Italy has to appoint, through a Special Power of Attorney, an Attorney-in-Fact in the Philippines, who will file on his or her behalf the application at any NBI Clearance office in the Philippines, submit it to the Department of Foreign Affairs for authentication (apostille), before the NBI Clearance can be used in Italy.

The application requires the applicant to affix his or her fingerprints to the NBI Fingerprint Card Form before a consular officer at the Philippine Embassy. The duly accomplished NBI Fingerprint Card Form will be filed by the Attorney-in-Fact at any NBI Clearance office in the Philippines.

For first-time applicant

Requirements:

1. Applicant must be an adult (18 years old and above; with legal capacity).
2. Personal appearance/s of affiant/s.
3. Duly accomplished NBI Card and Special Power of Attorney (SPA).
4. Presentation of original and photo copy of valid passport.
5. One copy of 2”x2” photo with white background
   IMPORTANT: To avoid being rejected by the NBI, please ensure that the photo was taken within the last three (3) months from the date of application; it must not show the client's teeth; the client must not be photographed with visibly big jewelries that can obscure the face and neck area; and the client must not be photographed with eyeglasses/spectacles.

Processing fee:

-    Application Fee of € 27.50

-    Expedite Fee of € 11.00 (for same day release of document)

For applicant who has previously applied for NBI Clearance from 2014 onwards

(Provided that no changes were made regarding his or her personal data)

Requirements:

1. Applicant must be an adult (18 years old and above; with legal capacity).
2. Personal appearance/s of Affiant/s.
3. Personal Copy of old NBI Clearance issued from 2014 onwards.
4. Duly accomplished Special Power of Attorney (SPA) to obtain NBI Clearance.
5. Presentation of original and photo copy of valid passport.
6. One copy of 2”x2” photo with white background
