LEGITIMATION
Legitimation is a process where a child born out of wedlock is considered legitimate by fiction of law due to the subsequent valid marriage of the child’s biological parents, who at the time of the conception of the child do not have any legal impediment to marry each other.
Procedures: (Applicable to those children born in Italy)

Both parents to execute Affidavit of Legitimation (AOL), to be supported by Philippine Statistics Authority - PSA issued Report of Birth of the child; PSA issued Marriage Certificate/Contract or Report of Marriage of parents; and copy of passports of parents.

If parents are abroad (outside the Philippines), they can execute the AOL with the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate

If parents are in the Philippines, they can execute the AOL before a Notary Public in the Philippines

Submit the duly notarized Affidavit of Legitimation to the City Civil Registry Office (CCRO Manila) of Manila (Manila City Hall) for registration. Request a copy of the Report of Birth with annotation of the legitimation with the Philippine Statistics Authority.
