PHL Embassy in Rome Conducts Consular Outreach in Messina

07 July 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Rome, in coordination with the Associazione Communita Fillipina (ACF) based in Messina, Sicily, held a consular outreach in Messina from July 02 to 03 to service the needs of more than 500 Filipino workers in the area and those coming from the neighboring cities of Catania, Cosenza, Calabria, and Palermo.
The outreach team processed a total of 457 applications for ePassports, facilitated a total of 30 Reports of Birth and Marriage, and administered the oath of allegiance to eight former Filipinos who reacquired their Philippine citizenship.
The Embassy’s Labor officials serviced 272 applications for membership in Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and gave an orientation to 67 other Filipino workers on the Balik Manggagawa (BM) online. Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG representatives received a total of 192 applications for membership.
There are about 9,500 Filipino nationals in the two regions of Calabria and Sicily, representing 5.5 percent of the estimated 170,000 Filipinos all over Italy. The outreach activity is regularly held by the Philippine Embassy to bring its consular services closer to the Filipino community. END
PHL Embassy in Rome Participates in Asean Family Bazaar

07 June 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome participated in the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) Family Bazaar held at the Myanmar Embassy. The event was participated in by ASEAN Member States with Embassies in Rome namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Bazaar featured indigenous products and traditional food from the participating ASEAN countries. The event showcased the richness and the cultural diversity of ASEAN countries. It was also an opportunity to raise the profile of ASEAN among Italian officials and the diplomatic community in Rome.
Officials from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, representatives from the Embassies in Rome of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) members and Embassy personnel and families of ACR members attended the event. END
PHL Embassy in Rome Meets with the Filipino Community and Conducts Outreach Mission in Albania

06 May 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Italy and Non-Resident Ambassador to Albania Domingo P. Nolasco met with the members of the Filipino community in Tirana, Albania to check the Filipinos’ condition and to promote overseas voting on May 02.
Ambassador Nolasco explained the mode of voting being implemented by the Philippine Embassy in Rome and encouraged registered voters to cast their votes. A member of the Special Ballot Reception and Custody Group (SBRCG) personally delivered electoral mailing packets and collected the official sealed ballot envelopes.
Ambassador Nolasco introduced to the Filipino community Mr. Loritan Prespa, the newly-appointed Philippine Honorary Consul in Albania. He underscored that the appointment of an Honorary Consul in Albania strengthens the presence of the Philippines in Albania thereby opening opportunities for the two countries to cooperate. He further explained that the establishment of the Philippine Consulate in Tirana will facilitate the delivery of consular services to the Filipinos based in the country.
The Embassy, with the support of the Filipino Community of Tirana, Albania (FCOTA), also conducted a consular outreach on the same day. The team composed of Vice Consul Candy Cypres and Ms. Bernice Catherine Santayana processed Passport Extension, Report of Birth, Report of Marriage and Authentication. Vice Consul Cypres administered the oath of allegiance to Ms. Shirley Kurti who reacquired her Philippine citizenship.
Mr. Hector Cruz, Embassy’s Welfare Officer and Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) – Officer-in-Charge, also joined the outreach mission to assess the welfare and working conditions of the Filipinos in Tirana. END
PHL Honorary Consul in Albania Takes Oath of Office

06 May 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Italy and Non-Resident Ambassador to Albania Domingo P. Nolasco administered the Oath of Office of Mr. Loritan Prespa as the new Philippine Honorary Consul in Albania on May 02.
Ambassador Nolasco briefed Consul Prespa, a.h., of his duties and responsibilities as the Honorary Consul in Albania. The establishment of a Philippine Consulate in Albania will reinforce the presence of the Philippines in Tirana. This development will pave the way to enhanced bilateral relations between the Philippines and Albania. The Consulate will also bring the consular services closer to the members of the Filipino community in Tirana.
Members of the Filipino community in Albania welcomed the news with enthusiasm as they do not have to travel to Rome or wait for the consular missions to avail of consular services.

PHL Embassy in Rome Meets with the Filipino Community in Malta to Conduct Outreach Mission and Promote Overseas Voting

20 April 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Rome Domingo P. Nolasco met with leaders and members of the Filipino community based in the Republic of Malta to promote overseas voting. In attendance were FILCOM President Ms. Ruzzell Faure, FOCOWIM President Ms. Mona Rogong and ENFID Country Representative Ms. Criselda Magsino.
Ambassador Nolasco explained the procedures for the mixed automated election voting (personal or postal) being conducted by the Philippine Embassy in Rome and encouraged registered voters to cast their votes. A member of the Special Ballot Reception and Custody Group (SBRCG) personally delivered electoral mailing packets to specific registered voters in Malta.
The Ambassador also introduced to the community Mr. Roger Strickland, Jr., the newly-appointed Philippine Honorary Consul to the Republic of Malta, and highlighted the important role of the Honorary Consul in enhancing Philippines-Malta relations and in bringing services closer to the community.
On April 16 to 17, the Embassy also conducted an outreach mission with the support and cooperation of Fr. Hilary Tagliafero of The Millennium Chapel, FILCOM, FOCOWIM and ENFID-Malta. Ms. Letty Siddorn was the community coordinator for the outreach.
The outreach team (composed of the Embassy’s Consular Section, as well as POLO, OWWA and SSS representatives) led by Consul General Leila Lora-Santos processed, among others, 174 applications for ePassports, 114 authentication, 7 Reports of Birth and 16 Reports of Marriage. Consul General Lora-Santos also administered the Oath of Allegiance of two individuals who reacquired their Philippine citizenship.
POLO-OWWA rendered services for a total of 167 OFWs, with 112 contracts verified, 69 OWWA membership processed and 30 assisted with Balik-Manggagawa Online. The SSS representative serviced 115 clients respectively.
The next outreach mission is scheduled on April 23 to 24 in Naples at the San Lorenzo Maggiore, Via dei Tribunale 316. END
