Philippine Ambassador Domingo P. Nolasco welcomes the participants to the seminar on the penal system of Italy held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Philippine Embassy on 30 May 2018.
Rome, 1 June 2018 -- The Philippine Embassy in Rome held a seminar on the penal law of Italy as part of its skills improvement program for its personnel. The seminar was held at the Embassy’s multi-purpose hall on 30 May 2018.
Resource persons Emilio Sanchez de las Heras and Angela Migliano, who are both practicing lawyers, outlined the various actors in a criminal proceeding, from the arrest and investigation of a suspect to his trial and appeal as well as the competences of the courts. They also explained the rights of the person arrested, particularly the right to legal assistance.
In his welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Italy, Domingo P. Nolasco, stressed the importance of the seminar to the Embassy personnel, particularly those performing consular functions. He also welcomed some participants from the Filipino community in Rome.
