Messina, Italy - Services in Hundreds. Hundreds of Filipinos in Messina, Italy and nearby areas avail themselves of consular and other services during the Consular Outreach Mission of the Philippine Embassy in Rome at Palazzo Zanca (Messina City Hall) in Messina on 28-29 April 2018.
ROME, ITALY 30 April 2018 - Hundreds of Filipinos based in Messina and nearby areas flocked to the consular outreach mission held by the Philippine Embassy in Rome on 28-29 April 2018 in the city of Messina, Italy.
Messina, located in northeast Sicily island, is separated from mainland Italy by the Strait of Messina, a narrow water channel.
The consular outreach mission, held at the historic Palazzo Zanca, which serves as the Messina City Hall, is the last of three such missions for 2018 in Sicily, home to nearly 5,000 Filipinos.
The Embassy consular team rendered a total of 382 services, consisting of 271 passport applications, 70 notary services, 18 Reports of Birth, 1 Report of Marriage, 1 Report of Death, 8 dual citizenship applications, and 1 certification. 12 dual citizenship applicants were also able to take their oath of allegiance.
131 Filipinos were also able to avail themselves of the Overseas Absentee Voting Registration.
The Embassy’s partner agencies also attended to a significant number of Filipinos, including 29 clients for the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, 260 for Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, 125 for Social Security System, and 104 for Pag-IBIG.
The consular outreach mission was in cooperation with the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Reggio Calabria, led by Honorary Consul Francesco Mortelliti, a.h., and the Office of the Mayor of Messina, led by incumbent Mayor Renato Accorinti, which provided Palazzo Zanca as the venue for the mission.
