06 December 2017 ROME — Nineteen Filipino workers completed their Life Support Training sponsored by the office of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) of the Philippine Embassy in Rome at the Teatro Aurelio in Rome on December 03.

The workers comprised the ninth batch of graduates of the training program which is fully funded by OWWA in support of the skills enhancement initiative of the Philippine Embassy in Rome. The Life Support Training program of OWWA has now a total of 124 graduates.

Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco, who graced the general assembly of trained Filipino workers with his presence, emphasized the importance of continuous learning and retooling for the advancement of Filipino workers and in finding more job opportunities. He specifically mentioned the success of a Filipino graduate of Life Support Training who eventually found employment in a nursing home in Sweden.

OWWA’s Welfare Officer Hector Cruz confirms that trained Filipino workers enjoy the trust and confidence of their employers, higher salaries, and added benefits. They are also much sought after not only in Italy but also in some European countries.

OWWA implements the Life Support Training program in partnership with iparamedici, a non-governmental organization, and the Civil Protection Department of the regional government of Lazio. The training consists of basic life support, firefighting, and pre-hospital and patient care skills. END
