Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo Nolasco discusses Philippine tourism and Philippine-Italy cultural ties at the 8th Edition of Diplomacy Festival held on 26 October 2017 at Mercato Centrale in Rome, Italy.

 

27 October 2017 ROME— The Philippine Embassy in Italy promoted Philippine culture and tourism to Italians and other nationalities at the “Diplomacy Festival” in Mercato Centrale, Rome on October 26.

The Embassy gave a presentation, in Italian, on travelling to the Philippines, promoting the country's tourist destinations. Philippine beaches, festivals, adventure activities, and natural wonders were highlighted at the event.

The Embassy also discussed cultural linkages and people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Italy. Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco conveyed to the audience, "Italian tourists will find it easy to relate to Filipinos given that we share a family-centric culture.”

"Philippines and Italy have a long history as we celebrate the 70th year of diplomatic relations this 2017. Filipino and Italian cultures interact daily with over 170,000 Filipinos living in Italy," said Ambassador Nolasco.

At the event, the Embassy also promoted and displayed Filipino food products such as snacks, fruit drinks, coffee, condiments, and dried fruits. It also distributed "It’s More Fun in the Philippines" tourism promotion materials.

As part of the presentation, a Filipino guitar player played Filipino folk and pop music to allow the Italian audience to have a feel of Philippine culture.

The Diplomatic Festival in Rome is an annual event where diplomatic missions in Italy are able to promote their countries on various topics such as international relations, culture, politics, and economics. END
