03 October 2017 ROME - Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco, joined more than 50 other members of the diplomatic corps based in Rome but accredited to the Republic of San Marino, in witnessing the investiture ceremony on October 01 for the newly elected Captains Regent of the Republic of San Marino, Matteo Fiorini II and Enrico Carattoni I.

A small republic with 33,000 population, San Marino is located on the slopes of Mount Titano on the Adriatic side of central Italy. It maintains an open border with Italy. The Philippines and San Marino established formal diplomatic ties in 2003.

The newly elected Captains Regent (Heads of State) of the Republic of San Marino, Matteo Fiorini II and Enrico Carattoni I, receive Ambassador Domingo P. Nolasco at the Valloni Palace in San Marino on 1 October 2017 just before their investiture ceremony. The Captains Regent hold office for six months and the investiture ceremony is held on the first of April and October each year. As Philippine Ambassador to Italy, Ambassador Nolasco is also non-resident Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of San Marino. In this photo, he joins members of the diplomatic corps who have been invited to witness the investiture ceremony.
