27 September 2017 ROME – Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco hosted the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Ambassadors Working Luncheon at the Westin Excelsior Hotel in Rome on September 26.
Ambassadors from Australia, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam and the Chargè d’Affaires from Bangladesh attended the lunch.
Ambassador Nolasco underscored the importance of the monthly working luncheons as ESCAP Ambassadors gain from the frank and candid interactions among themselves. He mentioned that with the help of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), the informal gathering has become a platform to get direct briefings from senior government officials on policy issues.
The ESCAP Ambassadors Luncheon, held every month, enables the ESCAP Ambassadors to meet and exchange views on issues that are of mutual interest to the member countries. The hosting of the luncheons rotates among the ESCAP Ambassadors. END
