28 July 2017 ROME — Mayor Enzo Bianco of the port city of Catania, eastern part of Sicily, southern Italy praised Filipino workers in his city for their hard work, ability to integrate socially and happy disposition.

Consul General Adrian Bernie Candolada, Labor Attache Haney Lynn Siclot and Welfare Officer Hector Cruz, who called on him in his office on Saturday, July 22. Consul General Candolada led a consular outreach team to Catania on July 22-23. He expressed his gratitude to Mayor Bianco for his kind words for the Filipino community in Catania and for his warm hospitality.

A former Senator and Deputy of the Italian Republic, Mayor Bianco also admitted that he developed a liking for “pancit.”

There are more than 600 Filipinos working and living in Catania, according to the Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Interior of Italy. The consular outreach team for Catania rendered a total of 522 transactions, 273 of which were related to applications for renewal of passports.
