On 16 October 2015, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Deputy National Statistician for Civil Registration and Civil Support Estela de Guzman and Interim Assistant National Statistician Lourdes Hufana, accompanied by Consul General Leila C. Lora-Santos met with Italian Civil Registrar General Serafina Buarné and Director Angelo Ottavianelli and discussed potential areas of cooperation between the Philippines and Italian Anagrafe (Civil Registry).

PSA, Philippine Embassy in Rome and Italian Anagrafe discuss possible areas of cooperation.

Both sides discussed their best practices in civil registration and shared views on how to ensure the integrity and authenticity of civil registry documents.

Director Ottavianelli presented the on-line system to secure Italian civil registry documents by the Filipino community in Italy, and proposed a project between the Philippine Embassy in Rome and the Italian Anagrafe, principally to assist Filipinos in registering their vital events (birth, marriage and death) in both the Italian and Philippine civil registries, and in securing copies of the same.
