09-10 May 2015 – A six (6) member consular team from the Philippine Embassy Rome headed by Vice Consul Margret Malang travelled to Palermo, Sicily and serviced 350 Filipinos mostly residing in Palermo, Agrigento, Trapani, Messina and Reggio Calabria.
The Province of Palermo is in the northernmost part of the Island of Sicily, the island facing the Tyrrhenian Sea. The island is one hour away (by plane) or nine hours (by train) from the Italian Capital, Rome. There are an estimated 2,000 Filipinos working and living in the island.
The team successfully processed 267 Passport Renewal Applications, 23 Reports of Birth, 12 Dual Citizenship Applications, 1 Report of Marriage, 1 Marriage License, 1 Petition for Correction of Clerical Error and 215 new overseas voters.
During the outreach, the Philippine Consulate in Palermo, headed by Consul Antonino di Liberto, a.h. conducted notarial and authentication services and was available for consultation on legal matters.
Thus far, the Philippine Embassy Rome has conducted six consular services, namely in Ancona, Napoli, Messina, Catania, Empoli and Palermo, and serviced around 2,000 Filipinos.
The next consular services will be held on 04-05 July 2015 in Florence, Italy and on 18-19 July 2015 in Malta. END
