08 SEPTEMBER 2024, ROME – More than 450 overseas Filipinos from different parts of the Campania region in Italy, mostly from Naples and Salerno, were served by the Philippine Embassy in Rome and its partner agencies in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate in Naples headed by Consul Francesca Giglio, a.h. The team rendered a total of 466 consular and assistance-to-nationals services during a consular outreach mission held at the Basilica Santuario Incoronata Madre del Buon Consiglio, Via Capodimonte 13, Naples, Italy on 07-08 September 2024.
The consular outreach team, headed by Second Secretary and Consul Ma. Claribel Ochoa, processed and facilitated passport applications, civil registry applications, consultations on assistance-to-nationals services (report of death, consular mortuary certificates, shipment of remains etc), and overseas voting registration of Filipino nationals. Consul Ochoa also administered the oath of allegiance of four (4) overseas Filipinos who applied for the retention of their Philippine citizenship under Republic Act No. 9225. Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate in Naples rendered NBI fingerprinting and 16 notarization services.
The Migrant Workers Office in Rome (MWO-Rome), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Rome (OWWA-Rome), and Social Security Services in Rome (SSS-Rome) also joined the mission and processed a combined total of 145 transactions including processing of membership and renewal applications and the conduct of a Post-Arrival orientation Seminar (PAOS) for OFWs.
During the consular outreach mission, Consul Ochoa and Assistant Labor Attaché Rosemarie G. Luntao briefed the Filipino community of the Embassy’s programs and activities.
The Campania region where Naples is situated is home to an estimated 3,513 Filipinos according to the latest statistics from the Italian government.
The mission was made possible by the Office of Undersecretary for Migration Affairs (OUMA) of the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Philippine Consulate in Naples, and the Embassy’s partner agencies.
