05 August 2024, ROME – The Philippine Embassy in Rome served more than 400 overseas Filipinos in Pisa during its consular outreach mission held at the Republican Arsenals, Pisa on 03 -04 August 2024.
The consular outreach mission was conducted in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Florence headed by Consul General Fabio Fanfani, a.h. and in cooperation with the Municipality of Pisa. The consular outreach team headed by Ambassador Neal Imperial and Consul General Randy Arquiza, facilitated passport applications, civil registry services, notarization, consultations on assistance-to-nationals services, and overseas voting registration of Filipino nationals. Consul General Arquiza also administered the oath of allegiance of 10 overseas Filipinos who applied for the retention of their Philippine citizenship under Republic Act No. 9225 .
The Migrant Workers Office in Rome (MWO-Rome), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA-Rome) and Social Security System in Rome (SSS-Rome) were also present and rendered a total of 174 transactions, which included counseling for a victim of Violence against Women and Children (VAWC).
In the afternoon of 02 August Consul General Randy Arquiza met with the Mayor of Pisa, Mr. Michele Conti, at the Palazzo Gambacorti. Consul General Arquiza expressed the Embassy’s gratitude to the Municipality of Pisa for providing a venue for its consular outreach mission. Pisa Counselor Riccardo Buscemi was also present during the meeting.
On the following day, 03 August, Sunday, Counselor Buscemi visited the Republican Arsenals, the venue of the consular outreach mission, and called on Ambassador Neal Imperial. Ambassador Imperial thanked Counselor Buscemi for his assistance in the coordination of the arrangements for the venue of the consular outreach mission. On the same day, Ambassador Imperial also met with some officials of Filipino community organizations.
This was the first consular outreach mission conducted by the Embassy in Pisa for this year, but the third in the Tuscany region since last year. Pisa is home to 1,786 overseas Filipinos.
The mission was also made possible by the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Affairs (OUMA) of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), which funded the conduct of the consular outreach mission. END
