Rome, 28 April 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Italy’s Sentro Rizal Rome and the Università degli Studi di Napoli L'Orientale (Orientale University), with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), launched the online Filipino Language Laboratory Course on 28 April 2022. More than 50 students and officials attended the launch.
The 12-hour course, which aims to introduce the basic Filipino language and culture to Italian students, will run until 30 May 2022.
Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco and NCCA Executive Director Oscar G. Casaysay warmly welcomed the activity as an important occasion for the Philippines and Italy to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the formal establishment of diplomatic relations this year by further strengthening people-to-people ties.
Professors Antonia Soriente and Pietro Masina of the Southeast Asian History and Institutions of the Orientale University highlighted the engagement as part of the university’s wider commitment to strengthen the understanding of Southeast Asia in Italy.
