ROME 17 May 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome, assisted by the Philippine Consulate in Malta, conducted another consular outreach mission in Malta on 07 to 08 May 2022 at the Catholic Institute, Triq San Publiju, il-Furjana, Floriana, where close to 900 services were rendered to the Filipinos living and working there.
Among the services that were offered were passport issuance and renewal, Report of Birth, notarization, certification, dual citizenship services, consular information and consultation services. POLO-OWWA and SSS services were also rendered.
Moreover, after receiving authority from COMELEC, mobile voting was also conducted by members of the Special Ballot Reception and Custody Group (SBRCG) of the Embassy who received the sealed ballot envelopes of registered voters in Malta.
As part of the consular outreach mission, the Embassy’s Assistance to Nationals team headed by Vice Consul Claribel Ochoa visited a stroke victim who was confined in a Maltese hospital. The ATN team facilitated the capture of the biometric data of the stroke victim who was bedridden and could not go to the site of the consular outreach services.
The Philippine Embassy’s consular outreach mission was headed by Consul General Donna Feliciano-Gatmaytan, who was also the administering officer during the oath taking ceremony of 15 people who swore allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines under the Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003 or Republic Act 9225. At the sidelines of the outreach mission, Consul General Gatmaytan also discussed with Honorary Consul of the Philippines to the Republic of Malta Roger Strickland the various needs and the improvement of services for the Filipinos in Malta.
This is the third consular outreach mission to Malta since the 3rd quarter of 2021. The Embassy, assisted by its consulates, conducts regular outreach missions in its consular jurisdiction, including Italy, Malta, Albania and San Marino, to bring government services closer to the Filipino citizens.
