08 November 2021 ROME - The Philippine Embassy in Rome, in cooperation with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), conducted a financial literacy webinar entitled, “Kapit Ka (Kaalamang Pinansyal Tungo sa Kaunlaran)” for Overseas Filipinos in Italy on 06 November 2021.

In his opening remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco underscored the importance of financial literacy among the Overseas Filipinos in Italy, as they work hard their entire lives and should have financial independence and lead comfortable lives upon retirement. He also encouraged them to help in the economic development of the country.

Guest speakers from CFO were Ms. Rosemarie V. Juan, a member of the CFO Peso Sense Team, who gave an interactive lecture on “Budgeting and Saving Tips”, and CFO Director Mario O. Garcia who discussed the various investment opportunities in the Philippines tailored for the Overseas Filipinos in Italy. During the Open Forum, the participants asked about which types of investments are ideal for those raising children, which ones are recommended for beginners, and possible investments in cooperatives, among others.

CFO Peso Sense is a nationwide financial literacy campaign on improving the financial literacy of Filipinos by promoting productive expenditure, strengthening their capacity for saving and promoting entrepreneurship among the Filipino beneficiaries of international or domestic remittances. It is implemented by the CFO and overseen by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
