Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco receives from Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi an official document on the Philippine Embassy in Rome’s adoption of a green area in Piazza Irnerio corner Via Bartolo da Sassoferrato during an inauguration ceremony held on 19 April 2021. The Philippine Embassy in Rome will be cleaning and maintaining its adopted green area as part of its participation in the “Adoption of a Municipal Green Area” project of the City of Rome.
19 April 2021, Rome - The Philippine Embassy in Rome “adopted” a small park in Piazza Irnerio corner Via Bartolo da Sassoferrato in the city of Rome as a green area. The adoption entails that the Embassy maintains the cleanliness of the area all year-round.
Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco and Rome City Mayor Virginia Raggi inaugurated the adoption in a ceremony held in the park itself on 19 April 2021. President of Municipio XIII Giuseppina Castagnetta and other local officials and civic organizations were present during the event.
The “Adoption of a Municipal Green Area” is a project of the City of Rome that aims to help maintain the cleanliness of Rome’s 45 million square meters of green areas, such as small parks, lower beds, traffic islands, and traffic circles with greenery.
In his remarks, Ambassador Nolasco conveyed that the Philippine Embassy in Rome is happy to be part of this collaborative effort and for the opportunity to contribute to the city by adopting a municipal green area. He shared that in the Philippines, one of the top priority policies of the government is to ensure a clean and healthy environment as the administration recognizes that the environment and natural resources sectors play a critical role in the country’s development.
Ambassador Nolasco conveyed that the Philippine Embassy in Rome has been participating in similar initiatives in the city, such as the Bella Roma clean-up project at Largo Fratelli Lumière in March 2019. This is part of the Philippine Embassy’s advocacy to help the environment and make it clean and safe.
He assured the local officials of the full cooperation of the staff members of the Philippine Embassy in Rome in performing their civic duties and responsibilities as residents of Rome in keeping the community green and well-kept. END.
