The Philippine Embassy in Rome lauded members of various Filipino communities in Italy for their efforts in helping fellow kababayans during the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Members of the Filipino Community group led by Mr. Aurtenciano “Kali” Miranda, joined volunteers from Italian organizations Sparta300 headed by Mr. Gianluca Senna and Fukyo ODV Protezione Civile led by Ms. Anna Basile, to distribute food packages to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. The effort was made in collaboration with the Municipio di Roma III and the EU Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD).

Volunteers from the said groups helped repack grocery items provided by Municipio di Roma III and the FEAD and delivered them at the doorsteps of Filipino and Italian families in need.

As of today, the group has completed its 8th batch of distributions throughout various areas in Italy and is now preparing for the 9th batch of distributions to reach more families. So far, the group has provided assistance to 120 families and distributed more than 2,000 kilos of groceries and medicine.

The Embassy conveyed its appreciation to all Filipinos in Italy who have extended their hands in helping those who are need during this health emergency. END
