15 November 2019, Rome – The Philippines was promoted as a country of destination for studying English as Second Language (ESL) during the Salone dello Studente in Rome from 12 to 14 November 2019. Salone dello Studente is a student fair for study and university opportunities for Italian students.
Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco joined the Philippine delegation, which was led by the Ms. Renee Reyes, Director, Office of Product and Market Development of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
“The Philippines would be a great destination for Italian students to learn English. The unique experiences and the affordable cost the schools in the Philippine offer is our country’s competitive advantage. During their study vacation, foreign students will be able to enjoy Philippine culture, cuisine, and sites while benefiting from patient and nurturing teachers,” Ambassador Nolasco said.
The delegation was composed of several ESL schools from the Philippines, which included Cebu Blue Ocean Academy, EV Academy, SMEAG, and QQ English. These schools are located in Cebu.
ESL is a tourist activity in which study of English is incorporated in a structured tour package.
According to the DOT, the Philippines is one of the few countries offering one-on-one English education, a form of instruction preferred by students and provided by highly qualified Filipino teachers.
