Applicants for passport renewal await they turn for biometrics capturing during the consular outreach mission in Florence held from 14 to 15 September 2019.

ROME 16 September 2019 – Eight hundred eighty-six (886) Filipinos were served by the Philippine Embassy in Rome, the Philippine Consulate in Florence headed by Consul General Fabio Fanfani, a.h. and the Embassy’s partner agencies during a consular outreach mission in Florence, from 14 to 15 September 2019.

The services rendered by the consular outreach team included the processing of three hundred forty-eight (348) passport applications, twenty-one (21) civil registry applications, eight (8) affidavits, and one (1) application for correction of clerical error. Twenty-two (22) individuals took their Oath of Allegiance for reacquisition of Philippine citizenship while four (4) others applied for the same. A dialogue with members of the Filipino community in Florence and the Tuscany region was also held on Saturday, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on 14 September 2019.

The Embassy’s attached agencies, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, also rendered services to two hundred twenty-six (226) clients, while the Social Security System and Pag-IBIG attended to one hundred fifty-one (151) and one hundred five (105) clients, respectively.

In the afternoon of 15 September 2019, several members of the consular outreach team visited a Filipino, who suffered from stroke, in the hospital where he was being treated. The team assessed his condition to report the same to his relatives in the Philippines and likewise captured his biometrics to facilitate his application for passport renewal. This is part of the Embassy’s assistance to nationals program, consistent with the Philippine foreign policy on the protection of the rights and promotion of the welfare of overseas Filipinos.

This is the second consular outreach mission conducted by the Embassy in Florence this year.
