Philippine Permanent Representative to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Domingo P. Nolasco (left) and IFAD President Gilbert Houngbo sign at the IFAD Headquarters in Rome, Italy on 07 March 2019 the Host Country Agreement (HCA) between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and IFAD on the establishment of IFAD’s Country Office. Once it enters into force, the HCA will regulate the status of IFAD officials in the Philippines and outlines the terms and conditions under which IFAD will be able to carry out its Philippine country office operations. IFAD is an international financial institution and specialized United Nations agency based in Rome. IFAD invests in rural areas and people to strengthen food security, improve the nutrition and increase incomes.

The HCA, which was signed on 7 March 2019 at the IFAD Headquarters in Rome, is an important agreement for Philippine-IFAD relations. The HCA will regulate the status of IFAD officials and country office in the Philippines. IFAD is an international financial institution and specialized United Nations agency. IFAD invests in rural areas and people to strengthen food security, improve the nutrition and increase incomes. The Philippines has been an IFAD member state since 1977.
