Ambassador Domingo P. Nolasco emphasizes the importance of the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar in helping Filipinos cope with new challenges and opportunities of living and working in Italy.
Rome, 11 December 2018—The Philippine Embassy in Rome organized on 2 December 20188, Sunday, its first Post- Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) for Filipinos who recently arrived in Italy to join their families, together with the representatives of Filipino community organizations.
More than 100 participants gathered at the Teatro Aurelio, Largo di San Pio V in Rome to learn the basics of living and working in Italy and to get an overview of their rights and obligations under Italian laws, social integration programs and services available, and local labor market trends.
The Philippine Embassy in Rome tapped the services of Rome-based Filipino Women’s Council, which advocates continuing education, skills training and social integration of Filipino migrants in Italy, to handle the orientation-seminar.
Representatives of the Philippine Embassy and its partner agencies such as the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Social Security Services and Pag-IBIG outlined their various programs and services and addressed queries from participants.
Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco has emphasized the importance of PAOS in enhancing the capacity of Filipino migrants to cope with the new challenges and opportunities of living and working in Italy.
The PAOS was designed to address primarily the needs of Filipinos who come to Italy to join their respective families under the family re-unification program of the Italian government.
There are almost 170,000 Filipinos all over Italy, ninety percent of whom are employed in the services sector.
