The Philippine Embassy in Rome notifies, with profound regret and sorrow, that last 08 November 2013, typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) hit the Philippines, affecting an estimated 9,679,059 people (as of 10 November 2013) in 41 provinces in the Visayan region of the Philippines, leaving a death toll of at least 10,000. At present, the affected regions remain littered with debris from damaged homes and experience shortage of food, water and lack of electricity and communication facilities.

The Embassy informs that in memory of the thousands of Filipinos who died in this calamity, aCondolence Book will be open on Tuesday, 12th November 2013 between 10.00h – 13.00h and 15.00h – 17.00h and on Wednesday, 13th November 2013 between 10.00h – 13.00h at the Embassy, Viale delle Medaglie D’Oro, 112-114, 00136, Rome.
