The Philippine Embassy in Rome informs that public that, starting 14 May 2019, it will no longer authenticate public documents issued in Italy, Malta, Albania, and San Marino bearing an Apostille.
Apostilled documents will be accepted in the Philippines without the need for authentication by the Philippine Embassy.
For Philippine public documents (e.g. PSA birth and marriage certificate, CENOMAR, NBI Clearance, etc.) to be used in Italy, Malta, Albania, and San Marino, the Department of Foreign Affairs will now affix an Apostille instead of issuing authentication certificates, starting 14 May 2019. Once apostilled, these documents may be used automatically in the said countries, without need for authentication or legalization by their respective Embassies or Consulates in the Philippines.
The Philippine Embassy in Rome shall continue to provide acknowledgement of Special Power of Attorney (SPA) and jurat services.
