Getting Married at the Embassy

Marriage between two Filipino citizens, at least 18 years old, may be solemnized at the Philippine Embassy in Rome. The requirements are as follows:

1) Personal appearance of both contracting parties
2) Duly accomplished application for Marriage License
3) Duly accomplished Information Sheet.
4) Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
5) Other requirements:
• If single, Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) issued by the PSA.

• If widowed, Death Certificate of the spouse issued by the PSA.

• If marriage has been declared null and void or annulled, Annotated Marriage Contract issued by the PSA.

6) Valid passports of the contracting parties.

Requirement Nos. 5 and 6 should be submitted in the original plus a photocopy.

7) For applicants aged 18 to 21 years, personal appearance of the parents and their Affidavit of Parental Consent. If parents are not in Italy, then the Affidavit of Parental Consent should be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) or the Philippine Embassy concerned and accompanied by a photocopy of their passports.

8) For applicants aged 22 to 25 years, personal appearance of the parents and their Affidavit of Parental Advice. If parents are not in Italy, then the Affidavit of Parental Advice should be authenticated by the DFA or the Philippine Embassy concerned and accompanied by a photocopy of the data page of their passports.

9) For parties aged 25 and below, Marriage Counseling Certificate from the DSWD or Office of the Social Welfare Attaché or any religious organization.

10) A photocopy of the passports or Carta d’Identita of the two (2) witnesses.

11) Two copies of 2”x2” ID photo of each contracting party with white background

12) Payment of the following fees:
• Solemnization of Marriage – €54.00
• Italian translation of the Marriage Contract- €22.50
• Affidavit of Parental Consent or Advice – €22.50

Reminder
• Marriage License will be released only after the marriage banns has been posted on the Embassy bulletin for ten (10) consecutive days.

 

Getting Married in Italy (Comune or Church)

A Filipino citizen who intends to get married in the comune or church in Italy has to secure a Nulla Osta Per Matrimonio or a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry from the Embassy. The requirements are as follows:

1) Personal appearance
2) Application for Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage
3) Duly Accomplished Information Sheet
4) Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)
5) Valid passport
6) Other requirements:
• If single, Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) issued by the PSA
• If widowed, Marriage Contract issued by the PSA and Death Certificate of the spouse issued by the PSA.
• If marriage has been declared null and void or annulled, annotated Marriage Contract issued by the PSA

Note- Requirement Nos. 5 and 6 should be submitted in the original plus a photocopy.

7) For applicants aged 18 to 21 years, personal appearance of the parents and their Affidavit of Parental Consent. If parents are not in Italy, then the Affidavit of Parental Consent should be authenticated by the DFA or the Philippine Embassy concerned and accompanied by a photocopy of the data page of their passports.

8) For applicants aged 22 to 25 years, personal appearance of the parents and their Affidavit of Parental Advice. If parents are not in Italy, then the Affidavit of Parental Advice should be authenticated by the DFA or the Philippine Embassy concerned and accompanied by a photocopy of the data page of their passports.

9) For parties aged 25 and below, Marriage Counseling Certificate from the DSWD or Office of the Social Welfare Attaché or any religious organization.

10) Two copies of 2”x2” ID photo with white background

Additional Requirements:

11) For the non-Filipino spouse of the Filipino contracting party, the requirements are:
• Duly Accomplished Information Sheet
• Copy of the passport or Carta d’Identita
• Certificato Contestuale if Italian National or Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry (Nulla Osta) from his or her Embassy in Rome
• Two copies of 2”x2” ID photo with white background.

12) Payment of the following fees:
• Affidavit for Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage – €22.50
• Affidavit of Parental Consent or Advice – €22.50
• Certification for Nulla Osta– €22.50

Reminders:

• The Nulla Osta Per Matrimonio will be released only after the marriage banns has been posted on the Embassy bulletin for ten consecutive days.

• Contracting parties are expected to file a Report of Marriage at the Embassy within 30 days from the date of their wedding. (See Report of Marriage for specific requirements)

 

Report of Marriage

The marriage solemnized in Italy has to be reported to the Embassy within 30 days from the date of solemnization of such marriage. Late registration of marriage has to be accompanied by an affidavit of explanation. The requirements for Report of Marriage are as follows:

1) Personal appearance of both contracting parties
2) Duly Accomplished Report of Marriage Form
3) Marriage Certificate issued by the Comune
4) Passport of the Filipino spouse
5) Passport or Carta d’Identita of the foreigner-spouse

Note: The original document and three photocopies should be submitted for requirements 3-5.

6) Payment of the Report of Marriage fee of €22.50.

Additional requirements:

7) Notarized Affidavit of Delayed Registration of Marriage if the marriage is reported after 30 days from the date of wedding
8) For the Affidavit of Delayed Registration of Marriage, payment of notarization fee of €22.50
