PHILIPPINE EMBASSY ROME CONTINUES TO ENCOURAGE FILIPINOS IN ITALY TO VOTE

28 April 2013 – His Excellency Ambassador Virgilio A. Reyes, Jr. encouraged Filipinos to vote during the morning Mass at the Basilica di Santa Prudenziana in Via Urbana in Rome. The Ambassador also handed flyers showing basic information on OAV to the at least 400 Filipinos who attended the Mass. In the afternoon, the Ambassador attended the Commencement Exercises of Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship at the Collegio Filipino, where he also spoke about OAV.

Meanwhile, Minister Grace T. Cruz-Fabella and Consul-General Leila C. Lora-Santos also took the opportunity to encourage Filipinos to vote at the 7th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass at San Leone Magno Community in Boccea, Induction Ceremony of the Guardians International Foundation Inc. and the Town Fiesta Celebration of Filipinos from Rosario, Batangas.

Philippine Honorary Consul in Messina, Dott. Domenico Marciano for his part, informed Filipinos in Messina of the ongoing overseas voting.

A week after receipt of electoral mails from COMELEC, the Philippine Embassy Rome has already received at least 300 accomplished ballots from Filipinos in Italy.

The Embassy continues to exert efforts to encourage early voter turnout and anticipates the arrival of more ballot envelopes mailed by voters in the next few days.
