The Philippine Embassy Rome wishes to inform all Filipinos, especially those travelling or transiting to Hong Kong, of the widespread influenza epidemic.

Influenza, or “flu” as it is commonly called, is an acute illness of the respiratory tract caused by influenza viruses. It is common during the winter months (January to March) and summer months (July to August) in Hong Kong.

As of 05 February 2015, the Center for Health Protection of Hong Kong disclosed that the death toll due to influenza has reached 118, and the number of severe cases, 187.

Nais ipaalala ng Philippine Embassy Rome sa lahat ng Pilipino, lalo na sa mga magbabyahe o transit sa Hong Kong na mayroon ngayong epidemya ng influenza doon.

Influenza o flu o trangkaso ay isang talamak na karamdaman ng respiratory tract na sanhi ng virus. Ito ay karaniwang nararamdaman sa mga buwan ng taglamig (Enero-Marso) at mga buwan ng tag-araw (Hulyo-Agosto) sa Hong Kong .

Noong Pebrero 5, 2015, isiwalat ng Center for Health Protection ng Hong Kong na umabot na sa 118 katao ang mga namatay sanhi ng influenza at  187 katao naman ay malubha ang pagkakasakit ng influenza.
